Engagement and Weddings rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was once thought a vein in that finger led directly to the heart.

The wedding band is worn inside the engagement ring so the wedding band is closest to the heart.

The groom's cake is a Southern tradition that has gained popularity in contemporary American weddings.  Traditionally, the cake was not served but was boxed up and taken home by all unmarried female guests.  The guests would then put their cake under their pillow that night and were said to dream of the man they would marry!
